MEATBALLS WITH PEPPERS

Ingredients
  • MEATBALLS:
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 5-6 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp. cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp. ground coriander
  • 2 tsp. cumin powder
  • 1 tsp. garam masala
  • ½ tsp. chili powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • bunch fresh cilantro, chopped
  • few tbsp. oil
  • MEATBALL INSTRUCTIONS
  • 1. Heat oil in small pan. Add onions, garlic, cumin seeds. Sauté till translucent/little golden brown. Set aside and cool.
  • 2. In medium bowl mix ground beef, onion/garlic mixture, spices & cilantro. Mix well and form 16-17 meatballs. Set aside.
  • FOR SAUCE:
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp. coriander powder
  • 1 tsp. cumin powder
  • ½ tsp. garam masala
  • ¼ tsp. chili powder
  • ½ tsp. cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 2-3 tbsp. oil
  • SAUCE INSTRUCTIONS:
  • 1. Heat oil in medium pan. Add onions and meatballs. Let onions get translucent and light brown & let meatballs get a good sear on all sides.
  • 2. Add garlic and cumin seeds to pan, saute for about 10 seconds.
  • 3. Add tomatoes and spices. Mix well. Let meatballs cook for about 20-25 minutes on med-low.
  • 4. Add bell peppers at the end just heat thru. I like to have a crunch on the veggies. If you like the peppers cooked down a little more, just add them with the tomatoes or as the meatballs are getting done. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
